The heritage of this museum is also exhibited in its branches in Rupea and Săcele. The museum was established in 1990, is located in a building built in 1902 and illustrates the way of life of people between the 16th and 19th centuries. Throughout its history it has served as a dance hall, student cultural centre, printing house and later museum.

The collections in the museum include ceramics, glassware from the 18th-19th centuries, a rich collection of folk costume and textiles, boiled eggs, icons on glass, metal, leather, bone, and a documentary collection. The museum contains over 13,000 objects representing the way of life in Țara Bârsei, Bran, Rupea, Țara Făgărașului and Valea Hârtibaciului.

The institution was founded in 1953 and throughout its history has changed its name, starting from the name “Musical Theatre”. The motto of the Brasov Opera is “Without music, life would be a mistake!” and the mission of the management and all the artists is to support, perpetuate and enhance the lyrical art in Romania and in the world”.

The services offered by the institution are opera, operetta and musicals, ballet and children’s performances. For a dreamy evening, the definition of elegance and refinement, visitors should opt for the opera, while those who want a more relaxed and lively yet refined atmosphere can choose the operetta and musical. The ballet performances are for classical lovers and the children’s shows are sure to delight the adults who accompany them; of course, none of these services are any less and all offer an unforgettable experience. Among the staff who make sure everything goes exactly as it should are the choir, choir director, soloists, set designers, orchestra, directors and many others.

This museum is a highlight of Brasov, illustrating the evolution of 19th-20th century Romanian art (painting and sculpture), 18th-19th century Transylvanian painting and Brasov art from portraits of the 18th century Brasov patricians to contemporary artists. On the ground floor of the museum there are various exhibitions, book launches and events aimed at the cultural development of visitors.

The heritage includes more than 4500 cultural goods belonging to significant Transylvanian personalities such as Mișu Popp, Petre Abrudan, Hans Eder and Constantin Brâncuși. The museum also exhibits the works of contemporary artists to encourage art even today so it is definitely worth a visit.

The museum is located in the old fortress of Brasov which was built in 1566. Its exhibition captures aspects of urban life between the 17th and 19th centuries and includes: a cellar for storing goods, a space for trading, a salon specific to the Saxon patrician, a children’s room, an embroidery and hat workshop and a 19th century photography workshop. The attic is dedicated to temporary exhibitions.

The museum was established in 1968 after the Mureșianu family had founded it; they provided the Romanian state with the necessary space together with pieces of furniture, paintings and sculpture. Iacob Mureșianu was the editor and owner of the Transylvanian Gazette between 1850 and 1877 and Andrei Mureșanu is the author of the lyrics of the Romanian anthem “Wake up Romanian”. The museum is dedicated to these great Romanian names who contributed enormously to the cultural development of our country; given that the family corresponded with the great politicians of that time, the family archive is impressive, even one of the richest Romanian archives.

In addition to permanent and temporary exhibitions, the museum also offers visitors cultural activities such as recitals and classical music concerts.

The museum is located only 700m from the Council Square, it is in the courtyard of St. Nicholas Church and is one of the most important historical monuments of Romania, so it must be visited during your stay in Brasov. The exact date of the school is unknown but it is thought to be sometime between the 11th and 12th centuries.

The visit to this place rich in tradition is done with a guide and lasts about 30-40 minutes. The “Book and the Brașoveni Bookmen” and “The Book, a factor of national unity” halls, where the first Russian Bible and a manuscript of Alexandru Lăpușneanu in gold leaf can be found, and last but not least, the “Cu Vatră” hall, where one can find household objects specific to the medieval period.

The Sică Alexandrescu Theatre, also called “The People’s Theatre”, was founded in 1946 and bears the name of the great director Sică Alexandrescu, who was also the first director of the National Theatre I. L. Caragiale in Bucharest. Since 1978 the International Festival of Contemporary Drama has been held here, where of course great actors of the time have participated. Performances are held every week, so the chances of visitors to Brasov seeing some real works of art by actors are very high. Recent shows include “A stormy night”, “The accidental death of an anarchist”, “Art” and many others.

This theatre is certainly a special one, performing animated shows with both actors and puppets. The story of this theatre began in 1949 when ,,Little Red Riding Hood” was first performed on stage and since then over 200 performances for families and children have been held each year. The theatre’s repertoire is quite impressive, with Pinocchio, Gulliver, Rapunzel, Aladdin and the Enchanted Lamp, Snow White, The Three Little Pigs and many others. So the Harlequin Theatre should be visited not only by children but also by adults who want to keep their souls young.

For the complete Brasov experience, the Filarmonica is not a place tourists should miss. Since 1878, this institution has been culturalizing and delighting audiences with concerts held here, its orchestra consisting of numerous instruments: cello, violin, double bass, flute, clarinet, piano, harp and so on. The building and the whole atmosphere guarantee an unforgettable experience, the elegance and presence of the players dressed in impeccable costumes giving the impression of going back in time to aristocratic times.
